Your medical care at nights and weekends is provided by the out-of-hours service. They can be contacted by telephone on 111 between the hours of 18:30 – 08:30 Monday to Friday, 18:30 Friday night to 08:30 Monday morning and on public and bank holidays.
You will be asked to give details of the problem and may be given advice over the telephone by a doctor. Sometimes you will be asked to visit a nurse, doctor or paramedic at a local GP surgery. In certain circumstances a doctor or paramedic may visit you at home.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
